SOCINTEGRA receives certification to deliver a non-formal education program on tactile maps and accessible navigation routes

SOCINTEGRA has received a certificate issued by the Riga Education and Information Methodological Centre authorizing it to deliver the non-formal education program "The use of tactile maps and accessible navigation routes in spatial navigation for people with visual Impairments."

The program has been developed to provide participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to accessible environment solutions for people with visual impairments, with a particular focus on the use of tactile maps and accessible navigation routes to support orientation and independent mobility.

Within the SOCINTEGRA training program, participants will gain knowledge about:

  • Types of tactile maps, their design principles, and applications
  • The role of accessible navigation routes and their practical implementation in public environments
  • Spatial navigation solutions for people with visual impairments
  • Accessibility principles and their implementation in different types of buildings, public spaces, and territories

The program is intended for social workers, rehabilitation specialists, and other professionals whose work involves creating accessible and inclusive environments.

For more than 15 years, SOCINTEGRA has been implementing projects in the field of environmental accessibility, developing tactile maps, accessible navigation routes, tactile models, Braille solutions, and audio descriptions for public infrastructure and cultural heritage sites throughout Latvia.
